From June 25 to July 2nd six adults and ten youth from Bethel went to Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in Port Isabel to run their neighborhood outreach Vacation Bible School program. While there we also went to Way of the Cross Ministries in Harlingen to help get food sorted and organized for a variety of food emergency uses for several agencies and missionaries not only in the Rio Grande Valley but also in Mexico and some Central American countries.

On December 10, the Men of Bethel group held a skeet shoot social event. There were 21 who attended and everyone had a great time. Special thanks to Pat Kasper, Foster Ullmann, Charlie Coble and Kyle Kasper for assisting. Look for the next events and activities for the Men Of Bethel in the bulletin and newsletters. Next event is a Chili cook off at Morris Guyton's home on January 21, 2017.
On December 3rd, the 6th annual progressive dinner was held. 82 people gathered that night at several host homes for food and fellowship. First stop was to the 6 host homes for appetizers and fellowship with one group. Then we all gathered in the Parish Hall for a catered dinner and more fellowship. Lastly, we moved on to 6 different host homes for desserts and fellowship with a different group. It was a wonderful evening of getting to know one another better in our gracious host homes. A fun time was had by all!
The first meeting of the "Men of Bethel" men's group at the home of Greg Herwald. We had 28 men taking part in a great evening. We plan on having quarterly activities for either fellowship or service.
The LCMS has a National Lutheran Youth Gathering every three years for the past 30+ years, currently drawing around 28,000 youth and adults. This year it will be in New Orleans July 16-20. While there we'll have large group sessions in the Superdome, other activities in the massive Convention Center & take part in a community service event. We continue to be thankful to Bethel for the tremendous support we are given for this and other events.

VBS was held June 14-18 this year, with 56 member families participating along with 36 visiting families. Nearly 200 meals were served each night, there were 65-70 children in Kindergarten and younger. Another 60-65 elementary age children also attended. Here are some photos from the week.
